Our company – which originally traded as J W Stanberry Limited – was established in 1951 by John Stanberry Senior, based in Moulton Chapel, near Spalding in Lincolnshire. The business initially concentrated on buying potatoes from local farms within Lincolnshire and delivering them to the wholesale markets.
John Stanberry Jr. took over the day-to-day running of the company and gradually steered it into new areas of business.
John Stanberry Jr.’s daughter, Jenny, joined the family firm and a new company was established – Tulipland Potatoes Limited – which was dedicated to washing potatoes.
With the opening of the new packhouse, at the start of the new millennium, the company was able to concentrate in particular on baking and pre-packed potato sales, offering customers an even wider range of products and services.
This was the beginning of accelerated growth and investment in new machinery enabling Tulipland Potatoes to continue to stay at the forefront of what was becoming an extremely fast-moving market.
Investment has been constant which has allowed us to not only grow our business and capabilities, but also place us at the forefront of weight-grading technology.
Over 70 years since the business started we remain proudly independent, with the fourth generation of the Stanberry family now working at the company and we are proud that as a company we have adapted to all new challenges and demands.
